It's back and I'm as smitten as ever. So You Think You Can Dance is my all time favorite TV show. It's funny, moving, and most of the time down right amazing. The show showcases true talent in an honest, but still respectful manner. Love it!
When I was young I longed to be a dancer. I watched ballerinas and solid gold dancers on TV and hoped that someday I could be like them. Dance has always moved me, but growing up in a small town didn't leave me with much opportunity. In college I finally got my chance and signed up for every Jazz and Modern dance class I could. I danced, performed, and even had the opportunity to choreograph my own piece. I loved every minute of it. I didn't love it enough to risk starving for it though. So I choose to follow the more logical and realistic path and stuck with computer science.
That choice has been good to me. It lead me to my job and Microsoft, my husband and children, Seattle, and many good friends. It wouldn't go back and change it even if I could, but I will always have a small part of me that longs to dance.
Watching the show brings back memories for me, but most of all I really admire all the people who had the courage to follow their passion. And I have enough experience to see and appreciate what unbelievable dancers they are.
Even if you don't love dance, give the show a try. It showcases some of today's best choreographers, hottest music, and real emotion and talent from the contestants and the judges. Cat Deeley is a perfect host and live TV is always good for some excitement.
It's on Fox Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm.
