You may remember Fiberside Lounge and my promise of video patterns from earlier this year. I haven’t forgotten or changed my mind. Ning, the site I was using as a host, changed their policies. What was once free, would now cost me $49.95 a month. In order to do what I have in mind, it would cost me that for each and every pattern I published. Clearly not a workable plan unless I win the lottery.
After getting over my initial disappointment at all my wasted time and doing some research (really asking hubby and waiting for him to tell me what to do) I have a workable solution and will be releasing all my new patterns (starting with Flint) with a video option.
But what about the old videos? That’s a bit more complicated.
First – Here’s the video for closing the gaps for the Little Jazz pattern.
Second – Good news is the Totally Tubular Sock pattern has been updated and is available. Bad news is I had to start charging $2 for it. I know this is really going to annoy some people and all I can say is it annoys me too. I wish I didn’t have to. Reality is that videos use up lots of all those expensive computer things (bits, memory, hardware, bandwidth, etc..) and pattern sales are my only way to offset that cost. I don’t have sponsors, use ads or have another product to make up the difference. I kept the cost as low as possible so people could still try out the video concept without a big investment and without it costing me money to offer. I’m truly sad I had to make the change.
None of the other videos were saved and I don’t anticipate a big call for my welcome to a place that no longer exists or instructions on how to navigate it. I also didn’t move the Signature Needle review since they’ve been out for almost a year and I’m extremely strapped for time. I figured you’d rather have me finally finish Flint or get the hoody vest pattern ready for testing.
And speaking of time crunch… Apparently today is Sept 28th, which is also my 14 year wedding anniversary, and since I’m crazy and date challenged these days, I forgot. Thankfully all will be forgiven if I get my butt in the kitchen and make something chocolate. Time to bake.
